Resilience in Practice: A two-part series that takes you from personal resilience to team and organisational resilience. Drawing on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Integral Theory, NLP Master Practitioner Marion Giddy guides you through an exploration that turns resilience from a vague trait into a concrete, learnable set of skills you can start using straight away.

Resilience In Practice

On-demand learning, informed by Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Integral Theory.

Join Marion Giddy (Speech Pathologist, Director and Integral Development Coach) for  professionally facilitated sessions from Cooee Speech Pathology's own team development program, recorded and made available to watch on your own time through the Clinician Collective. It explores what resilience actually is, why it matters more than ever amid NDIS reform and funding change, and the specific cognitive and behavioural skills that let you respond to pressure with clarity instead of overwhelm.

Private practice is changing faster than ever. NDIS reform, shifting eligibility guidelines, and funding uncertainty place real pressure on clinicians — and when we feel overwhelmed, we tend to wait for certainty, get stuck in worry, avoid action, and lose sight of the bigger picture. Resilience in Practice addresses this head-on. These recorded sessions reframe resilience not as something you either have or don't, but as a skill you can learn and strengthen.

Take a peek at what's to come!

Upon successful completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Define resilience using two practical frameworks, including organising thinking under pressure and taking ownership of thoughts, emotions, and actions

  • Distinguish between what is within and outside of their control using the Responsibility Line, and use this to shift from reactive to intentional responses

  • Describe the Integral (quadrant) model of resilience and recognise how individual thinking and behaviour connect to team and organisational systems

  • Identify and reflect on the six core resilience skills: Forward Motion, Reality Testing, Meaning Making, Internal Stability, Flexible Thinking, and Self–Other Balance

  • Differentiate between action-based and meaning-based pathways to resilience, and determine when to use each approach

  • Develop a practical, personalised forward plan by selecting a resilience pathway and identifying how, when, and where to apply it in their own context

Prefer to do this as a team?

This recording is designed for individual clinicians to watch and apply on their own. That said, resilience builds best when a whole team shares the same language and practices — so if your practice would like this session delivered live and facilitated for your team, we'd love to help. Get in touch with us at the Clinician Collective to arrange a live facilitated session tailored to your team. Email marion@cooeespeech.com.au to enquire.

This is a pre-recorded presentation, available on-demand. Participants will have 6 months' access to the recording following registration. By registering for this event, you agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Contents

Resilience in Practice — Part 1: Individual Resilience

Part 1 focuses on the resilience you can build and control within yourself. It's written for the individual clinician — anyone navigating NDIS reform, funding uncertainty, or the day-to-day pressure of a full caseload who wants to feel more grounded and purposeful. Using NLP and the top half of the Integral model (individual meaning-making and individual behaviour), it turns resilience into a learnable set of skills: two working definitions of resilience, the Responsibility Line for separating what's in your control from what isn't, the six core resilience skills, and two practical pathways — action-based and meaning-based. You'll finish with language for what you're experiencing, a clearer sense of agency, and a plan to apply on your own.

Learning outcomes: define resilience and recognise your two pathways to it; distinguish what is and isn't within your control; identify which resilience skills to strengthen; and commit to an actionable next step.

Resilience in Practice — Part 2: Group & Organisational Resilience

Part 2 zooms out from the individual to the team, culture, and systems you work within — making it the natural next step for practice owners, team leaders, and any clinician who wants to influence resilience beyond themselves. Working through the bottom half of the Integral model (shared culture and the systems/structures of a business), it explores how groups make sense of stress together, the role of psychological safety and shared language (the session's worked example: retiring the word "busy" as a team), and why you can't change culture from within culture — you shift it through individual actions and through systems. It then reframes the six individual skills at an organisational level (forward motion, reality testing, meaning making, internal stability, flexible thinking, self–other balance) and applies them to real sector pressures like aligning service models to changing funding.

Learning outcomes: describe what organisational resilience looks like through the Integral quadrants; recognise how culture is shaped (and how to influence it from meaning, behaviour, and systems); use shared language and psychological safety to process pressure as a team; and identify systems that create pressure and redesign them to support change.
