Play and language development

On-demand clinical learning, informed by EBP4 and through the lens of a multidisciplinary approach.

Join Thida Hantun (Speech Pathologist) and Ashley Hannan (Occupational Therapist) for a holistic, multidisciplinary professional development presentation exploring the relationship between play skills and language development in paediatric practice.

Grounded in current evidence and clinical expertise, this session supports clinicians to develop a deeper understanding of how play and language evolve together, and how both disciplines contribute to the development of both areas. The presentation explores the components of play and language development, through four key stages - providing practical guidance for identifying a child’s level and supporting progression through collaborative, interdisciplinary practice.

Designed to support holistic, child-centred care, this session emphasises the integration of speech pathology and occupational therapy knowledge to enhance clinical reasoning and outcomes for families you are supporting.

The session guides clinicians through three key areas:

The interplay between play & language development

The role of SLPs & OTs in play and language development

Identifying the level of language and play in paediatric clients
