What parents and carers need to know about language development in the childhood years, created by our children's speech pathologist, Thida Hantun.

This 17-minute online presentation is designed for parents and carers to understand the two language development profiles, what development and progress looks like for both profiles, and the key principles and strategies to use at home to support growth.


You will have access to the online information video, taking you through Analytic Language Processing (ALP) and Gestalt Language Processing (GLP), as well as a downloadable handout that accompanies the video with:

  • Key summaries of the different language profiles

  • An example of what the stages of development look like for both profiles

  • Strategies to support language development for both profiles, with ideas for activities and play to try at home

  • Printable planning sheets to reflect on your child's skills and plan how you will practise at home

Who is the Parent Info Video for?

This video has been designed for parents, but it is ideal for parents and caregivers of young children, as well as other adults who are caring for young children. Its purpose is to give carers a deeper understanding of what language development looks like, so they can more clearly and confidently plan what skills to practise with their children and how to do this in the home setting.

How long is the Parent Info Video?

The online video is 17 minutes long. There is also an accompanying handout that you can read and complete in your own time.

How do I access the Parent Info Video?

After purchasing, you will be able to watch the video through your Podia account. You can watch it straight away, and will have access to the presentation for 6 months from the purchase date.
