A free to download eBook for parents exploring sensory processing, interoception and how regulation develops through support at home.

Big Feelings, Little Bodies

Created for families and carers, by our children's occupational therapist, Helena Manicaros, and speech pathologist Marion Giddy.

This free eBook explores three key areas that support children’s emotional regulation:

  • Sensory Processing

  • Interoception

  • Co-regulation

It was created to support parents and carers in their important role of modelling, providing experiences, and talking about emotions and responses at home.

Inside, you’ll learn about:

  • What sensory processing is, and activities to explore sensory skills at home

  • What interoception is, and how to model interoceptive language at home

  • The ages and stages of regulation skills, including how children learn to manage their emotions over time and how parents can help

With printable activity cards for sensory and interoceptive skills at home, and a practical one-page guide for moments of dysregulation, this eBook is a starting point for all adults who are looking to support a young person's regulation journey.
